Happenings (April 14, 2023)

Grandparents Day on Friday, May 5 from 7:30-9:30 AM (RSVP due April 26). We want you to extend the invitation to your grandparents (or special adult) to join us for:

  • 7:30 AM    Check-in begins at the Hill-Murray Fieldhouse (Parking in West lot)
  • 8:00 AM    Prayer service and brief program
  • 8:30 AM    Enjoy refreshments, tour the school, and visit photo station
  • 9:30 AM     Departure

Note: May 5th will be a late-start school day with classes beginning at 10:00 AM. Students who are not attending Grandparents Day should arrive at school after 9:45 AM. There will be space available for students who are not attending Grandparents Day yet need to arrive at school earlier due to transportation reasons.

Pioneers will be out serving the community on Saturday, May 20, to provide helping hands and to bring the spirit of service to our community. Get a group of family, friends, or alums and find a service project for any time of day on May 20.

2023 Senior All-Night Party

We are thrilled to announce the Hill-Murray Class of 2023 Senior All-Night Party will be held right after Graduation on Friday, June 2, from 10pm- 5am at The Burrow in Oakdale! Join your classmates for a fun-filled night of ax throwing, arcade games, laser tag, bowling, mini golf, casino games, boxer bingo and more! Watch for more details following spring break.

Senior All-Night Party Fundraiser

Warrior Nutrition in Oakdale is supporting our Senior All Night Party with a fundraiser on Saturday, April 15! They will be giving the senior party 25% of ALL sales that day. Come get a signature beverage and support our seniors!


HOSA Competition

Members from the HOSA club, a nationwide student-led health organization, attended the Student Leadership Conference in St. Cloud on April 5th-6th where they competed in events related to topics of their choosing. Senior Ben Davis and junior Isabella Afonso took 3rd and 4th respectively in their research poster category. Students also participated in an Anatomage Tournament, where they were quizzed on the anatomy and physiology of the human body. The ten members who attended went with the goal to learn something new and bring back information to build our program here at Hill-Murray. We are looking forward to events next year!

Spring Art Show

Come see new artwork by the talented art students of Hill-Murray! The show runs through May 26th at St. Paul’s Monastery. Gallery hours are 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1:00 – 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The Artists’ Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held Wednesday, May 17th, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Awards will be determined by an outside judge.


College Fair – April 18

A College Fair is coming up on Tuesday, April 18, co-hosted by Hill-Murray and Cretin-Derham Hall. It will be held held at CDH, 550 South Albert Street, St. Paul in the Fieldhouse from 6:30-8:00 p.m. It is a free event and freshmen, sophomores, juniors and their parents are invited. Over 100 colleges and the military will be represented.


Computer Graphics 1 Logo Design

Many thanks to Karen and Larry Stang of Carriage Realty for generously donating their time as clients to Hill-Murray’s Computer Graphics 1 students. The students were asked to create seasonal, holiday, and popular-culture themed variations of their company logo, and propose some new logo designs for a future rebrand. Be sure to follow Carriage Realty’s website and social media and see in the coming months some of these talented students’ designs.


 

The Nicholas Center at Hill-Murray School, in partnership with Youth Advantage of Stillwater and The Good Neighbor Center of the East Side of Saint Paul, invites all struggling readers entering grades 1st-6th in the fall of 2023 to join us for the The Nicholas Center Summer Reading Program at Hill-Murray. The Summer Reading Program is a 6-week program that focuses on boosting literacy skills in students, including phonological and phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, morphology, comprehension and fluency.
