Ms. Elizabeth Marin Named Principal of Hill-Murray School

Dear Hill-Murray Community,

It is with great pleasure and confidence that I announce that Ms. Elizabeth Marin has been named as Principal of Hill-Murray School. As you may know, Ms. Marin has a proven track of excellent leadership, service and dedication to the Hill-Murray School community. Ms. Marin started at Hill-Murray as a French teacher and has successfully taken on various leadership roles over the years, most recently as an instructional coach and teacher mentor. Our faculty highly regard her; she has demonstrated a keen skill and talent for bringing out the best in teachers. She is a strong advocate for students and is known for integrity, approachability, trustworthiness, and the ability to handle sensitive and challenging situations.

Ms. Marin has a forward-thinking approach, a growth mindset, and a collaborative, solutions-driven approach to decision-making. She has a deep knowledge and respect for the time-honored traditions that are important to Hill-Murray and is uniquely positioned to guide us on an innovative and student-focused path toward the future. Ms. Marin’s philosophy of leadership is rooted in our Catholic faith; in fact, a guiding prayer for her comes from St. Ignatius of Loyola, “Teach me to serve.” I could not be more pleased that Ms. Marin has enthusiastically accepted the position of Principal and, in her words, has “unbridled enthusiasm for advancing Hill-Murray’s mission right now and for future generations.”

Ms. Marin earned her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction and an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Leadership from the University of St. Thomas. Additionally, she has a K-12 Admin license from the State of Minnesota. Additional accomplishments include receiving a fully funded grant for summer study from the National Endowment for the Humanities and a fully paid fellowship in Paris, France, from the Outstanding Oxbridge Program through Oxford University. Ms. Marin was selected as the Teacher of Excellence at Hill-Murray last year. Ms. Marin is a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church in Minneapolis. Please join me in congratulating Ms. Marin, and I would like to thank the entire interview committee for their thoughtfulness, careful consideration, and review of the candidates.

Sincerely,

Melissa Dan
Hill-Murray School President
