H-M Happenings (October 14, 2022)

Student’s Vision for Outdoor Classroom Becomes Reality

Hill-Murray sophomore Abigail Haldorson’s vision for an outdoor classroom is now more than a picture in her mind. After months of planning, designing and hands-on construction, it’s come to life and is one of the exterior changes you’ll see around the Hill-Murray campus in the future.

H-M Give Day Update

The generosity of the Hill-Murray community was made clear yesterday when alumni, families, faculty, staff, and friends of the school came together to donate more than $75,000 to the Annual Fund (and donations are still coming in!). Watch for a final total on social media after we include as many mail-in donations as possible.

If you didn’t have a chance to give yesterday, it’s not too late! Click here to make your gift.

Thank you for supporting Hill-Murray School!

Halloween at Hill-Murray

Hill-Murray students and staff have a long tradition of getting into the spirit of Halloween. Besides homecoming themes, this is the 2nd most popular out of uniform day for all. Here are the expectations for costumes.

  • No masks over the face
  • No weapons or weapon replicas
  • No cultural appropriation – this includes costumes that reinforce a stereotype or  makes fun of a culture or cultural tradition
  • Neat, clean and modest
  • If you choose not to participate with a costume, you may dress in black and orange.

Thank you in advance for making sure your son/daughter follows these expectations.

Parent Teacher Conferences

This year Hill-Murray will offer both in person and online opportunities for conferences. Our first Quarter ends on October 28th. Look for an email to come out the week of November 1 with opportunities to sign up to see a teacher. The time frame is 7 minutes with a 3 minute break in between each conference. If you are in person, please do not sign up for back to back conferences as you will be moving about the building to teacher rooms. We ask if you need more than 7 minutes, you schedule that with the individual teacher.

November 10 – In-person conferences from 1:00 – 8:00 pm (time off for dinner) November 11 – Online conferences from 800 am – 3:00 pm (time off for lunch)

Picture Retake Day

We are planning on having an additional photo retake day on Tuesday, November 29 from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

This retake day is for those students who may have had a blurry photo, OR for those students who wore a ‘hoodie’ in their original school photo.

Please fill out the attached google doc if your student plans on having their photo retaken on November 29.

As a reminder, please make sure that your student is:

In uniform: a Hill Murray polo (black, green, or white).

NO Spirit Wear may be worn in this photo.

Boys: must be clean shaven, hair cuts are off the collars, and out of the eyes.
