H-M Happenings (August 19, 2022)

What did you do this summer? Here’s what some Faculty and Staff did!

Green and Sustainable Chemistry

Hill-Murray’s new chemistry teacher, Tania Lauby, went to an amazing workshop called “Green and Sustainable Chemistry” this summer and learned about all the ways to make chemistry green and sustainable for our students and our environment. In the picture to the left, she made an edible pod filled with water.

Mrs. Lauby is excited to implement the activities she learned at the workshop with her students this year!

No Need for Alarm, But Consider Adjusting Your Wake-up Alarm

One of the best things about summer Is sleeping in, and we have all probably taken advantage of that. It’s time to start thinking about getting in sleep shape for school. With less than three weeks before school starts, consider adjusting your sleep schedule in 15-minute increments a few times a week. Go to bed 15 minutes earlier and get up 15 minutes earlier.

By the time the bells start ringing on August 31, you will have made an adjustment back to the school schedule. Your brain and your body will thank you!

For more information on good sleep hygiene, visit the National Sleep Foundation. A friendly suggestion from your caring H-M Guidance and Counseling Department.
