Hill-Murray Theatre enjoys a well-chronicled reputation in the greater community as one of the finest programs in the state. It is known for its professionalism, excellence, and outstanding programming. Any student wishing to participate in a theatre experience is welcomed. Over 200 students are involved each year in the theatre program, onstage and behind the scenes. Students interested in developing their talent or just becoming involved in an exciting activity will find a home in Hill-Murray theatre!
The Theatre Season at Hill-Murray consists of six productions: a play, a christmas show, Minnesota State High School League Sponsored One Act, A musical, a cabaret, and brand new this year, a Middle School play!
Over the course of the coming school year nearly one out of every five students will participate in some way in a Theatre-related production. One of the school's top priorities to them, as they profit from this valuable experience, is that they maintain their academic performance. One comment often heard from parents is that students' grades actually improve while they are in shows because of the emphasis placed on time management and academics. The Theatre Department believes that if they can work closely and communicate in a timely fashion with teachers, parents, and students, there is time and energy available for both the academic and the co-curricular experiences at Hill-Murray, including an excellent experience in Theatre.
