Girls Basketball Heading to State!

The Hill-Murray Girls Basketball team defeated the defending state champion Totino-Grace Eagles 53-44 in the Section 4AAA Championship to advance to next week’s State Tournament.

The Pioneers were led by another strong performance from sophomore point guard Elise Groppoli. She poured in 21 points against Totino-Grace after scoring a career-high 30 on Saturday in Hill-Murray’s Section 4AAA quarterfinal win over North St. Paul.  Junior Hailey Wolgamot added 16 points for the Pioneers against Totino-Grace to help improve Hill-Murray’s overall season record to 17-11.

The Pioneers have now won six straight games down the stretch. The Minnesota State High School League’s Girls State Basketball Tournament is March 15-18. Look for more information in the next few days regarding state tournament tickets and schedules.
