Middle School Junior Achievement Co-Curricular Club
All middle school students are invited to attend our Junior Achievement information meeting after school on Wednesday, September 3 in room 120. This is a great way to get to know other students with a fun and engaging club. Students will be able to participate in interactive activities designed to help them recognize the best ways to manage their money. Our program, Junior Achievement Finance Park, will allow students to develop solid, long term financial habits. The meeting will run from 2:45pm – 3:15pm. See attachments below for more information and a registration form. Please contact Kelly Donnelly at kdonnelly@hill-murray.org with questions.

“To-Be List” for All Middle School Pioneers
This “To-Be” list was shared out with students in a lesson on August 25, and also mentioned by Principal Marin in the MS class meeting on August 27. We hope to see students showing us this helpful list in action.
We encourage you to discuss the items on this list and talk about how each can also be put in action at home and out in your communities.
There are always to-do lists to tend to. Let’s turn to a different kind of list–a “To Be . . . List.”
BE . . .
KIND to everyone, including yourself. Sometimes kindness is quiet. Sometimes it is active. Remember: We don’t have to agree on anything to be kind to one another.
AN UPSTANDER. Speak up when you or others are on the receiving end of unwelcome behavior like teasing, name-calling, pushing, eye-rolling. Go to a trusted adult. This includes your teachers, your counselors Ms. Francis and Mrs.Valentine, and Mr. Benner.
FACE-TO-FACE with others. There will always be an important place for face-to-face communication. It’s a great social skill that will help you today and every day. Screens have their place, but should never fully replace face-to-face.
WILLING to listen, ask questions, speak up, wait your turn, try new things, push yourself, and encourage others. Even be willing to be frustrated or confused–that’s when you know you are about to learn something new.
SERIOUS and SILLY It’s healthy to be both, and key to know when to be each. If you aren’t sure, take a look around at others and you might get some hints. It’s good to laugh at yourself and with others, but it’s never okay to laugh AT someone else.
ORGANIZED with your school backpack and supplies, assignments, calendar, and your space at home too. If you feel too busy to take a minute or two to organize yourself, that is probably when it will help the most.
WELL-ROUNDED in everything from activities and eating choices, to friends and interests, and more. Middle school is a time to broaden your options and experiences.
YOURSELF! There is only one YOU! YOU have gifts and talents to bring to the H-M community that no one else can. It can be as simple as a smile or an idea from your creative mind. Believe in yourself!
Together, this is what it means TO BE A PIONEER!
Fall Youth Nights (Grades 3-8)
Do you know someone who would enjoy a Pioneers game? We encourage you to invite them to one of our Fall Youth Nights, where they’ll enjoy free admissions, snacks and the opportunity to win H-M spirit items!
Football is September 26 (Homecoming) and Boys Soccer is September 30! See fliers for registration information.
