CARE hosts Red Ribbon Week

Next week, our student-led club, CARE (Caring and Responsive Empowerment), will be hosting Red Ribbon Week! This national observance raises awareness about the dangers of drug and alcohol use, and our students have planned a variety of fun and meaningful activities to help educate their peers on this important topic.

On Friday, October 31, at 9:15 a.m., CARE is honored to welcome Randy and Heather Bacchaus to Hill-Murray. They will be speaking to our high school students and Hill-Murray parents, sharing the powerful story of their son, Randy Michael, who tragically passed away at age 21 after experiencing cannabis-induced psychosis and dying by suicide on July 17, 2021.

Through their advocacy and education efforts, Randy and Heather are dedicated to spreading awareness and helping prevent similar tragedies.

We invite you to join us for this meaningful school community event focused on cannabis awareness and youth decision-making.

It is hard to believe that we are already nearing the end of our first quarter here at Hill-Murray. The school year begins quickly and does not seem to slow down. As the end of quarter one approaches, we wanted to share a few tips on how you can check in with your students at home:

Parents: How is the school year going for your student, whether they are new to H-M or returning?

Things to Consider:
-Does my child have a healthy balance of school, social connections, structured and unstructured activities, and rest/downtime?
-In terms of school work, organization of materials, keeping backpacks and lockers clean–how is my student doing?
-Am I doing anything for my child that they could be doing for themselves?

Here are some questions for the dinner table that will help delve deeper than “How was your day?”:
-What made you smile today?
-Who were you kind to today? Who was kind to you?
-What was frustrating for you today?
-What are you looking forward to tomorrow or the rest of the week?
-Can you teach me something you learned today?

If there are areas of concern or areas of celebration, your student has a great support network here at Hill-Murray. Encouraging your students to reach out to their teachers and school counselor is always a great step. If there are things you need to connect with adults in the building about, they are resources for you as well! We are all here to support the success of your students and we know that it truly does take all of us.

7th Grade Retreat and Community Building Trip at Camp St. Croix

Our 7th graders recently participated in an overnight retreat at Camp St. Croix, a meaningful trip that combined faith formation, community building, and outdoor adventure. Throughout the two days, students took part in activities such as rock climbing, orienteering, a riverwalk, and outdoor survival challenges that encouraged teamwork, perseverance, and connection with nature. The retreat provided a valuable opportunity for students connect more deeply with God and one another. Old friendships were strengthened and new friendships formed as students created lasting memories and grew both in their faith and in their sense of community at Hill-Murray.

Middle School Junior Achievement

Middle school students have been learning money management skills. They are participating in Junior Achievement Finance Park, where they are able to manage their virtual money through an engaging online simulation. Students are learning about savings plans, staying out of debt, and making sound investment decisions which will help them plan and prepare for their financial future.

Middle School Halloween Party

The Middle School Student Council planned a fun-filled evening for our middle schoolers to celebrate Halloween. Students enjoyed crafts, music, games, and Halloween cheer. We had so many wonderful costumes this year, and a good time was had by all! Save the date for our next MS Party: December 15th from 3-5 PM.

Introducing the 2026 Pioneer Premier Auction Theme: “Welcome Home.”

“Welcome Home” is a celebration of all who make Hill-Murray what it is — the alumni whose legacy still echoes through our halls, the current families living the mission each day, and the future families who are just beginning to hear the call: this is where we belong.
This year’s auction is more than a fundraiser — it’s a reunion, a gathering, and an invitation.
Whether you’re returning, residing, or arriving, you belong here.

Join us Saturday, April 25th, 2026, right here at Hill-Murray for an unforgettable night celebrating all that makes Hill-Murray home.
