Tricks, Treats and Togetherness at Hill-Murray!

Dear HM Community,

VP of Mission Sue Skinner (left) and Upper School Principal Kelly Harrington “disguised” as Oompa Loompas!

We celebrated Halloween at Hill-Murray today and I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw all the creative costumes, including our new VP of Mission Sue Skinner and new Upper School Director Kelly Harrington as Oompa Loompas!

It’s wonderful that the teachers, staff and students always embrace the day. It’s yet another example of how our community comes together — sometimes to get things done and other times just to have fun!  Case in point of the latter: on Thursday, our peer ministers hosted 60 “Trunk or Treaters!”

After three school years of our normal routines being impacted by the pandemic, we’ve gotten together multiple times as a community.

I’m pleased to report that turnout was very high at our Fall Open House while spirits were even higher for Homecoming 2021. We also recognized our Distinguished Alum and welcomed our latest class into our Athletics Hall of Fame.

Perhaps most importantly, our students’ in-person learning schedule has gone uninterrupted despite the uncertainty presented by the Delta variant.

We’ve held all-school mass twice since school began and we are celebrating All Saints Mass on Monday, November 1. We will gather together as a whole school to celebrate the Eucharist.

Lastly, I encourage everyone to gather tomorrow to support our football players as the team hosts South St. Paul in Sections. Game time is 12 pm at the Stadium.

Win or lose tomorrow, as we enter the month of November and look back on the Fall, I feel there’s a lot to celebrate and be thankful for.

I hope you all feel the same.

Trunk or Treat!
