Hill-Murray seniors Allie Franco and Anna Thron today signed National Letters of Intent to play Division I college athletics at the University of Minnesota and Baylor University respectively.

Franco, a Pioneer hockey player, says she’s excited to stay in-state and play for the Gophers, one of the top programs in NCAA Women’s Hockey.

“I chose the University of Minnesota because that is the college I always wanted to go to and I will be home so my parents will be able to come visit me and watch my games,” said Franco.

Thron competes in equestrian and is headed south to Waco, TX. Like the University of Minnesota’s women’s hockey program, Baylor’s equestrian program is also one of the very best in the country. It’s currently ranked #3.

“I chose Baylor because of the academic, athletic and religious aspect of the school,” Thron said. “I really felt at home when I went and toured Baylor and I loved the girls, I loved the coaches, and, when I stepped foot on campus, I felt at home.”

Both Franco and Thron say their experience at Hill-Murray has prepared them well for their next steps as student-athletes.

“(Hill-Murray) has made me both a better person and a better student,” Franco said.

Said Thron:

“Hill-Murray has prepared me for success by making sure I’m a part of a community, making me feel at home. Hill-Murray has also taught me how to work hard.”

Good luck to both Allie and Anna! Roll Pios!
