Hill-Murray Girls’ Basketball Advances to Section 4AAA Final

Sophomore Elise Groppoli scored a career-high 30 points helping Hill-Murray advance to the Section 4AAA Final.

Behind a career-high 30 points from sophomore point guard Elise Groppoli, the Hill-Murray girls’ basketball team advanced to the Section 4AAA Final with a 60-49 win over North St. Paul in the semifinal round Saturday, March 4 at Hill-Murray School.

Training 26-25 at halftime, the Pioneers opened the second half with a 12-3 run and outscored North 35-23 in the final 18 minutes enroute to their sixth consecutive win. Groppoli had 17 of her 30 points in the second half.

Hill-Murray will face Totino-Grace, the defending state champions, in the Section 4AAA Final. That game will be played at Stillwater High School on Thursday, March 9th at 7 pm. Totino-Grace upset top seeded Mahtomedi 75-67 in the other Section 4AAA semifinal.

The Pioneers improved their overall season record to 16-11 with the win against North St. Paul.
