Find Your Calling, Find Your Passion: Pioneer Passion Project Showcase!
Students in the Pioneer Passion Project course showcased the incredible work they’ve done this semester.
In this unique class, students pursue a project or idea that may not fit into traditional courses but is personally meaningful to them. Over the course of the semester, they research, learn, and create something entirely their own.
Aidan Best built a remotely operated robot. He programmed a Raspberry Pi to control it, planned and wired the motors and other components, built the frame, 3D-printed the motor housings, and assembled the entire system. He’s already planning several upgrades for the future.
Alexander Herrington designed and built a wind tunnel for use in Hill-Murray science classes. He created it to help students learn about air resistance and terminal velocity—and to test their model space capsule designs. To bring his project to life, Alex dove deep into concepts like laminar flow, turbulence, and 3D printing. The science department is excited to begin using it next school year!
Daniel Banderas-Infante developed a 3D role-playing game from scratch. He designed the characters, storyline, world, and gameplay—and coded the entire project using Blender and Godot. Look for his game on Steam in the future!

8th Grade Class Valley Fair Day: Wednesday, May 28th
The 8th grade class will be visiting Valley Fair for a day of fun! Students will leave immediately after arriving at school on this late-start Wednesday. Students will return by 2:40 PM. Students will need to purchase lunch at the park as Valley Fair does not allow food to be brought into the park. Students can bring either a sealed disposable water bottle or an empty reusable water bottle to be filled in the park. Please note that Valley Fair is cashless. Credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google pay are accepted. Students may also bring cash to convert into a Visa gift card for use throughout the park. Bags are allowed. Soak City is not open on this date. Students may be out of uniform.
Service Project to Feed My Starving Children (8th Grade Retreat): Thursday, May 29th
Students will check in with their second hour teacher and will then report to the Chapel. We will board buses to one of two sites (Eagan/Coon Rapids) and return to school at 12:30 PM. We will be stopping at fast food places for lunch, so students should plan to either bring a bag lunch or bring money to purchase lunch. 8th Graders will return to school for the rest of their retreat day. Students may be out of uniform but must wear close-toed shoes.
