Parent/Teacher Conferences

Hill-Murray School will be holding Term 2 Parent-Teacher Conferences on Friday, April 1.

We hope you can join us!

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be scheduled online between 8:00am and 4:00pm. Time has been allocated for brief conferences that are intended to provide parents/guardians the opportunity to share specific information about their student, for example: academic progress, instructional strategies on how to keep your student engaged, etc.

Conferences will be available via Zoom. Note there is not an expectation that every parent/guardian attends a conference with every one of their student’s teachers. Look for more information on how to sign up for conferences and the zoom link after spring break.

Preparing our Children for the Road, not the Road for our Children

Please join us April 5th for a presentation from Dr. Julie Robinson on “Preparing our Children for the Road, not the Road for our Children.”

Dr. Robinson will be highlighting the benefits of parenting our youth for a “growth” mindset rather than a “fixed” one. Apart from talent and intellect, often worshiped in our society, we need to help our youth realize that challenges, failures, and sheer effort are critical tools in finding their paths. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation beginning at 7:00 p.m.  If you have any questions please contact Brent Johnson (bgjohnson@hill-murray.org). An Interdisciplinary Experience for the 7th Grade

Two companies in northern Minnesota are set to begin mining for copper and nickel in the near future. In contrast with traditional iron mining, extracting copper and nickel requires a different method, a process called sulfide mining. On March 28th, all 7th grade students will begin an exploration of the many ways this mining could impact Minnesotans. How will it effect the surrounding ecosystem? What impact will it have on the local economy? Why are these minerals important for the future? What are the social and political implications of all of these factors? Within their Science, Social Studies, and Math classes, students will view the issue through the lens of each specific discipline, and in the end students will use critical thinking to combine what they’ve learned with their own ideas to make a recommendation for the future of mining in Minnesota. On April 12th, students will share their ideas with the community in the form of poster presentations.

Adoration

Hill-Murray parents are invited to participate in the spiritual practice of Adoration, which is held in the Hill-Murray Chapel during the school day typically on the first Friday of each month.

Adoration refers to the time when the Blessed Sacrament (the consecrated host) is placed on the altar and the faithful spend time with Jesus in the Chapel in quiet prayer and reflection.

At Hill-Murray you are invited to attend Mass at 7:15am on days of Adoration and are welcome to sign up for a time to stay in the Chapel in prayer.

Friday, April 8, 2021 sign up is open. CLICK HERE to sign up.
