H-M Happenings (January 21, 2022)

2022-2023 School Calendar

Here is the 2022 – 2023 calendar for your scheduling purposes. You will see that we are starting a week later than the previous two years, but we have designed a schedule that actually increases instructional time for our students and faculty.

The calendar aligns with one of our priorities in the strategic plan, Go Boldly, to prioritize the health and well-being of our students and faculty after three consecutive school years being impacted by Covid-19.

Peer Ministry

Thank you to our HM Peer Ministers who served as small group leaders for 7th grade retreat at St Odilia’s Catholic School.  Peer Ministry is a group of students in grades 10-12 who have made the commitment to serve our community in a variety of ways, including retreat leadership, liturgy and worship and as well as service.  The Peer Ministers participated in their own January retreat at Guardian Angels Church where they celebrated Mass, spent time in personal prayer, connected with their peers and worked in planning groups in preparation for the second semester.  Applications for Peer Ministry for next year will be coming in early spring – stay tuned!

Catholic Youth Summer Camp

Check out these summer opportunities for students to grow in their faith.

Catholic Youth Summer Camp is a high adventure week long program in Trego, Wisconsin.  There are weeks for Middle School and High School. In addition to the fun and exciting activities, students participate in faith based activities including Mass and Adoration.

Another opportunity is open to high school students is the Lasallian Youth Assembly in Chicago from June 13-17.  This is a chance for HM students to gather with other high school students from around the Midwest where they engage in service projects as well as develop their leadership skills as they grow in their faith.  Dr Skinner is leading this trip and she will provide more information in the coming weeks.

From time to time, Rocky Yarusso at the front desk sends out poignant messages to staff. They are oftentimes inspirational and uplifting. Here’s the latest…

You may already know how beautiful our stained glass window is with the sun shining through it. The beautiful reflection travels around the upper atrium as the day goes on, and it reminds us that our foundational charisms surround all that goes on in this building each and every day.

Have a beautiful Friday, Pioneers!
