H-M Alum, Brooks Running CEO Jim Weber Publishes First Book

Below is a message from Hill-Murray Alum Jim Weber (’74) regarding the much anticipated release of his new book. Weber visited Hill-Murray in February to meet with students and talk about his wildly successful professional journey.

Hello Friends, Family, and Associates:

It’s hard to believe the two-year path to publishing my first book has come to an end. The hardcover and audiobook versions of Running with Purpose: How Brooks Outpaced Goliath Competitors to Lead the Pack are available for purchase.

What a journey it has been. As I reflect upon the nudge Warren Buffett gave me in early 2020 to share Brooks’ story, the seemingly never-ending hours of writing and editing, and the partnerships with many individuals who helped bring this book to life, it all feels a bit surreal. It has been an honor to share what I believe is (now was) one of the greatest stories never told.

On my life journey and my lens as Brooks CEO for the last 20+ years, I have learned that a great brand begins with commitment to a purpose, authentic behavior, and gaining the trust of all stakeholders. I hope this book offers insights, inspiration, and tangible takeaways for current and aspiring leaders, entrepreneurs, brand builders, and especially the 150+ million runners worldwide.

Running with Purpose was possible because of the support of my teammates at Brooks and Berkshire Hathaway. A special thank you to those who provided valuable feedback along the way, challenging me to share stories transparently and authentically.

If you have not yet purchased my book, you can today at jimweber.org. If you have already read the book, I look forward to hearing what you think. Please write a review on AmazonBarnes & Noble, or another bookseller of your choice.

Run with Purpose.

Jim Weber
