If you’re interested in the performing arts, acting, or singing, or you’d like to see what it’s like to be part of a theatre production, we invite you to participate in the Theatre program at Hill-Murray.
Middle school and high school students are encouraged to audition for productions or join the crew. We put on more shows than any other high school in the Twin Cities, and we have a reputation in the greater community as one of the finest programs in the state. More than 200 students are involved each year in the theatre program, onstage and behind the scenes.
We invite you to join us for our current production and experience Hill-Murray Theatre for yourself!
Hill-Murray is pleased to offer a number of theatre classes in Middle School and High School. Take dramatics classes, theatre, acting or stagecraft classes to strengthen your poise, performance and presentation skills.
With so many talented students, Hill-Murray Theatre is able to stage several productions each year, including but not limited to a fall play, Christmas production, spring play, one-act shows and middle school productions.
Middle school students can audition for both middle school and high school productions. With several high school shows each year, it’s possible for high school students to participate in Theatre once a sports season concludes or before another cocurricular activity begins.

If you’d like to help build sets or serve on the crew behind-the-scenes, our Tech Director welcomes middle school and high school students to join the crew for one or more productions. Serving on the crew provides great theatre experience and gives you good insight on what it takes to put on a show, from start to finish.
Hill-Murray Theatre directors and staff are always looking for innovative ways to enhance the theatre program. As working actors themselves, they have strong ties to the Twin Cities theatre community and are able to invite noted actors and casting agents in for acting, auditioning or tech workshops throughout the year.
