Transportation
Several transportation options are available for students and their families.
1. Driving to school Some families with students who are old enough to drive decide that this option is appropriate to meet their needs. However, families should know that parking at Hill-Murray is limited. Student parking permits for the school lot are offered at a cost of $155 each, and distributed to seniors first, then juniors and so on. Contact Mrs. Barbato, Assistant Principal at 651-748-2423 with questions about parking permits.
2. Car Pooling Many Hill-Murray families choose to carpool each morning and/or afternoon. We encourage those families to take advantage of the Metro Transit Rideshare program. The program will help them connect with other Hill-Murray families looking to share rides. All enrolled families will receive a letter from Hill-Murray containing a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that they must use to register. This PIN is confidential and case sensitive. If the PIN is lost, families may contact Terri Beran in the Hill-Murray business office at 651-748-2409. The Rideshare process has two steps: 1. See instructions on "How to Create a SchoolPool Ridematch" by clicking here. Use the PIN here to sign in. When entering the Hill-Murray confidential PIN do not put a space between the numerical and alpha characters. This is where families enter their information that will be used to help match their students with other Hill-Murray carpoolers. 2. The second step is to go to SchoolPool Access by clicking here. This is where families can identify Rideshare matches. If matches are not found right away, we encourage families to check back often. It will take a while for students to register. New students may join the program throughout the year. If families find matches and no longer want to be available for new members, they can simply removing the check mark in the "Is Public'' section of the Rideshare site. This will make the family's information unavailable for matching. If the situation changes, families may reactivate the Ridematch program at any time. Also, families are encouraged to check Rideshare's Message Center in the upper right corner of the their screen to communicate with each other as the program doesn't provide other commuters with their personal information.
If you need additional assistance, please contact Jean Hinds at Metro Transit Rideshare at 612.349.7563.
3. Busing
To contract for busing, consult the routes below.
For Students Living in ISD #622 By state law, students who live in Independent School District #622 and are more than 1.5 miles away from Hill-Murray School (Maplewood/North St. Paul/Oakdale—the district in which Hill-Murray is located) are eligible to receive free transportation to Hill-Murray. See below for District #622 routes and times.
On August 15, 2012 ISD # 622 will post route schedules on their web page. This is located at www.ISD622.org. ISD # 622 will continue to provide transportation services for our families that live within this district boundary. Your student will be picked up at his/her designated stop and brought directly to Hill-Murray school in the morning. Please note students residing outside ISD # 622 who wish to be picked up at an existing stop can be served. However, they must complete a district form found on the ISD # 622 web page. It is noted as "out of district/outside of school attendance boundaries." and must be sent directly to their district offices. The following steps will assist in confirming the route time and pick up point for your student:
FOR CURRENT ROUTES: Please go to www.isd622.org Click on district information on the menu on the left of the page Then choose transportation/bus routes Next choose find your child’s school bus route Finally scroll down to non public schools and click on Hill-Murray
Morning routes come directly to Hill-Murray with no transfer to another bus.
FOR AFTERNOON ROUTES: Afternoon routes will shuttle students to Tartan or North High Schools, before resuming the normal routes to neighborhoods. Your student will make a transfer at the high school and ride home with the students from each location. You may confirm the route number to which your student will be transferring by following the above listed instructions (ISD #622 website) with one exception. Instead of selecting “non public schools…” please choose “High School Schedules,” then select the high school your student would attend if you were attending a public high school in the district instead of attending Hill-Murray. Morning routes are the only schedules posted. However, after the transfer to another bus, the morning routes (though not the times, of course)remain the same for the afternoon schedule, but in reverse order.
If you have questions regarding the status of your bus in bad weather, or if the bus is considerably late, please phone Mr. Terry Wasiluk at 651-621-1980. He will advise the status of the bus en route. If you no longer require transportation and wish to have your name removed from the route schedule, please leave a message at 651-748-2409.
Be sure to check route times, particularly on days when one of the schools is not in session, either with the Hill-Murray Business Office or by visiting the ISD #622 (www.isd622.org). There are several days during the year when Hill-Murray’s school calendar does not coincide with that of District #622. On these days ISD #622 will continue to provide normal transportation. Click here to see schedule of related dates. For Hill-Murray Students Living Outside of District #622 Boundaries Routes for 2012-2013 will be established based upon request from families. Requests are submitted during the enrollment process within the online enrollment form.
Hill-Murray will consider adding bus routes provided there would be sufficient ridership to a designated area. Please contact Terri Beran at 651-748-2409 or tberan@hill-murray.org with any questions. Click here for the 2011-2012 Monarch Bus Route.Click here for the 2011-2012 South Washington County (ISD #833) Bus Routes that connect to the Hill-Murray Bus.
If your bus does not show up on time, or in the event of bad weather please phone Monarch Bus Service at 651-251-8080. Ask for Michael Wheeler to determine status of bus en route. |
