Peer Helping
Hill-Murray Peer Helping is a program for students by students. Over 90 juniors and seniors select Peer Helping as a non-elective credit and are trained to work as either Peer Tutors or Peer Listeners. The Peer Helpers learn through a specific curriculum with teacher, Mrs. Colleen Jamieson. In turn, they transfer their academic and communication skills into productive helping sessions with peers from all grade levels. The students tutor and listen in the P.E.E.R. Center (Peer Education & Encouragement Resource Center). All Hill-Murray students are welcome and encouraged to stop in the P.E.E.R. Center to arrange a time to meet with a Peer Helper. This program is an outstanding resource for our students both for the trained Peer Helpers and for the several hundred students who use this program throughout the school year.
