The Hill-Murray Band has received a Superior Rating (highest possible) at the Region 4AA Large Group Band Contest in Class I (highest possible class.) The band has also received numerous Superior Ratings (highest possible) at the Region 4 AA Large Group Solo/Ensemble Contest and one of our students has won the "Best at Site" Award three years in a row!  Band students represent our school in many auditioned-based ensembles throughout the Midwest.  We continue to have students participate in the Minnesota Band Director's Association Honor Band in both middle school and high school. The Hill-Murray Band has graduating seniors who are being awarded music scholarships to attend the college of their choice and participate in the school's music program.

The Hill-Murray Band also offers students an opportunity to travel and perform.  We hope to travel and in the spring of 2011. Some of our more recent trips have been to Dallas, Texas, and Honolulu, Hawaii.

Academy for the Performing Arts
Hill-Murray School offers an after-school program of individualized instruction for all levels, beginning through advanced, in vocal and instrumental music.  One does not have to be a Hill-Murray student to enroll in this lesson program.  The Academy currently employs teachers in piano, voice, guitar, percussion, drum set, woodwinds, brass, and strings.  We also offer master classes in music and other performing arts including acting.  All staff have undergone a thorough background check and interview process to ensure quality of instruction. All lessons take place at Hill-Murray School.  The Academy is supervised by the Hill-Murray School Band Director.

The Parish Schools Band Program

The Hill-Murray Parish Schools Band Program is staffed by thirteen professionals dedicated to helping each student reach his/her full creative potential. Working at nineteen area Catholic parish schools and two public charter schools, the staff serves nearly 600 students. The H-M Parish Schools Band Program is housed at Hill-Murray School, which is also the site for the program’s all-school “Almost Spring” Concert.

We are enormously grateful for the partnership and participation of the schools below. We thank them for their continual willingness to provide time and resources for the Parish Schools Band Program and for their vision in allowing their students the opportunity to expand their talent in instrumental music.
