Pioneer Pathways Performing Arts Academy


Pioneer Pathways Performing Arts Academy is a program of superior artistic study taught by accomplished musicians after-school in the music department at Hill-Murray.  All are welcome; one does not have to be a Hill-Murray student to enroll in the Performing Arts Academy. Adults and students of all ages are welcome to participate. The Performing Arts Academy offers lessons for guitar, bass, piano, drum set, all band instruments, all string instruments, all voices, jazz studies and improvisation.   Lessons are tuition-based and charged based on the school quarters. Summer lessons are typically offered by most teachers.  There are seven (7) individual lessons offered per school quarter with a performing and professional musician for $175.  Hill-Murray families have the option to pay via their tuition statement (TADS).

Biographies Of Our Professional Musician Staff

Juli Baecker - Flute/Oboe

Juli Villesvik Baecker brings over 35 years of performing arts background to flute & oboe students of the Academy. Throughout her career Ms. Baecker has performed in concert halls throughout North America and Europe. As a classically trained musician, she has received instruction from several renowned flautists; Sandy Solheid Gallagher, Elaine Eagle, and performed with Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies. Ms. Baecker went on to study music and receive her BA degree from Luther College. Ms. Baecker continues to perform with the flute choir Sounds of Silver, as well as The Medalist Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Jerry Luckhardt of the University of Minnesota, where the mission of the organization is to inspire young musicians to continue to play their instrument and participate in the arts beyond high school. Ms Baecker is married to a musician, resides in Stillwater, and has 3 children who have participated in the music program at Hill-Murray from 7th grade through 12th grade.

Bruce Wintervold - Percussion/Drumset

Bruce Wintervold has been a professional musician

in the Twin Cities area for many years. Bruce is a percussionist for the dance program and plays for Modern Dance Technique at the U of MN. He has played for shows at the Guthrie Theatre, Children's Theatre and the History Theatre as well as numerous night club performances on drumset and vibraphone. He can be seen regularly at the Dakota Jazz Club, the Aster Cafe and recently performed on one of TPT's Almanac programs in October. 

Lindsey Dammar - Piano

Lindsey Dammar is a recent graduate of Northwestern College (now University of Northwestern--St. Paul), where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Music. During her studies there, she had some experience accompanying fellow voice students and began teaching at the Academy of Music. She is a new member of the Academy at Hill-Murray and is enjoying her position immensely. Lindsey started studying piano when she was in first grade. She hopes, with the Lord's help, that she can help each of her students to be successful.

Beth Hassler - Strings

Beth Hassler is described as a “teaching artist.”  After being a materials scientist and engineer in the biomedical field for 20 years, she pursued her dream of learning to teach and play stringed instruments to students of all ages.  After three degrees in engineering and microbiology, she completed a MM degree in Viola Performance and also studied Suzuki Violin Pedagogy for two years and earned a K-12 MN Teaching Liccense. You never stop learning!  Beth wants to share her knowledge and be part of creating a String Ensemble at Hill-Murray.
