Subject Guides to Online Resources

ABC-CLIO: especially good for Social Studies and Religion; includes 8 databases; covers American History, Wars, and World History and Geography.

America's Historical Newspapers: for general research in any subject; over 400 U.S. newspapers from their start until 2000.

Britannica Online: for general research - all classes; encyclopedias, news, magazines, journals, websites and videos.

CAMIO: a growing online collection documenting works of art from around the world.  Works of art may be used for educational and research purposes during the term of the subscription, if they are properly credited. Images may not be published or otherwise distributed.

Consumer Health Complete: for Health and Medical questions; articles from encyclopedias, journals and reference books.

Credo Reference: for all subjects; online reference service, including dictionaries and encyclopedias in digital format.

CultureGrams: for Social Studies and World Languages; current descriptions of countries with articles, images and videos.

EBSCO Research Databases: for general research in any subject; magazine and journal articles including many government items from ERIC.

Issues Researcher: for general research - all classes; provides multiple viewpoints from articles in journals, books and magazines.

Minnesota Reflections: for general research on MN; images and documents.

Points of View:  for general research when opposing view points are needed on the same topic; articles from books and journals.

Pop Culture Universe:  For all subject areas dealing with popular culture; set up by decades starting in the 1900s.

ProQuest Newspapers: for general research - all classes; newspaper articles from 1985-current.

Science Online: for science and math questions, and science fair projects and experiments.

Student Resources in Context (Gale): for general research in any subject; includes 11 databases; magazine and journal articles with some newspapers.

Visual Thesaurus: English and World Languages; pronunciations and word maps for vocabulary.
