The Hill-Murray Pioneer Boys Varsity Hockey program can boast of an unparalleled tradition in Minnesota high school athletics.  It is considered by many to be the premier program in the state.  Playing in the tough Classic Suburban conference, the program's successful history includes:

  • Won 30 conference championships in 37 years
  • Reached Section 3 semifinals: 33 of 34 years
  • Reached Section 3 final: 26 of 34 years
  • 15-0 in section finals 1975-1993
  • 22 State Tournament appearances
  • 12 Times reached state semifinals
  • Played in 8 state championship games (7 in 14 years, 1980-1993)
  • Won 6 runner-up, 2 3rd Place, & 2 consolation titles
  • Won 2 State Titles - 1983, 1991
  • Won 2 Independent State Titles - 1970, 1972

In 2006, the Pioneers once again won the Classic Suburban Conference title and section title, advancing to the Minnesota State Tournament where they finished fourth.  As a harbinger of the future of the program, while the varsity team was advancing to the tourney, the Junior varsity team finished its season with a stellar 24-1 record and won the prestigious Schwan's cup.

      The Hill-Murray girl’s hockey program is coming off one of its most successful seasons with a 16-9-2 record and capturing the Classic Suburban Conference title for the 2006-2007 season. Our program is quickly developing into one of the premier programs in the area with an aggressive goal of achieving state tourney status on a regular basis.
