Christian Service Learning

 Hill-Murray Christian Service Learning students
with students from Phalen Lake Elementary

Christian Service Learning is a class that gives students an opportunity to put all that they have learned about Catholic Social Teaching into action.  Three days a week students work at various social service agencies, educational settings, or volunteer organizations.  A sampling of the sites at which CSL students work include the Ramsey County Family Service Center, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Phalen Lake Elementary School.  Students work at their sites Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11:15am to noon.  On Monday and Tuesday, students are in the classroom discussing their experiences at their sites, making connections to what they have learned to the broader community, and reading/discussing various texts.  Students will read both Amazing Grace and Nickel and Dimed during this semester long class.

Christian Service Learning is open to any junior and senior.  This class is an elective class and does not count toward the Religion Department's graduation requirements.  Please see or call Mr. Tim Cooper (tcooper@hill-murray.org) for any questions you may have about this class.
