Please read the description below about the range of tuition assistance options offered by Hill-Murray.  We encourage you to call or stop by the Business Office for assistance in helping plan for your student's education at Hill-Murray School.

Explore the Options

Sometimes families make an assumption, based on tuition alone, that their son or daughter cannot attend Hill-Murray School.  We encourage you to explore the options we make available.

We are very aware that education costs have risen historically, for both public and private schools.  We are sensitive to the fact that tuition requirements at Hill-Murray may mean sacrifices for families, and we want to work with you to provide as much assistance as possible.  Some families will be eligible for grants and scholarships.  Others with lesser need may want to take advantage of work programs or flexible payment plan options.

Please complete the financial assistance application (www.tuitionaid.com) and let us make a determination of how much assistance we can provide.  Let us know what your plans are for tuiton so we can create a workable plan for your family.

Facts about Tuition and Assistance

Tuition/Fees for 2008-2009
Tuition for 2007-2008 is $9650 for grades 9-12 and $8500 for grades 7-8.  In addition, there is a $300 Capital Improvement Fee for each student.  There are additional fees if you choose to contract for busing.  Students participating in athletics or other cocurricular activities are required to pay a participation fee.

Pre-payment option:  Families may choose to pre-pay the 2008-09 tuition and receive a 5% discount.  Deadline is March 3, 2008 or within two weeks of acceptance.

Your tuition covers approximately 90% of the cost of an education at Hill-Murray.  The remainder is covered through fundraisers such as the Annual Fund and the Pioneer Premier Auction.  In this manner, every student is receiving some tuition assistance.

Tuition assistance
Over $800,000 is available to assist families, through Hill-Murray grants, Archdiocesan grants, and scholarships.  We offer scholarships ranging from $500 to one-half of a year’s tuition.  Some scholarships are based on need, some on merit.  For more information, read our Tuition Assistance/Scholarships Guide.

Applications for aid in 2008-09 are accepted through mid-December 2008.  Go www.tuitionaid.com to complete the TADS form online or stop by the Business Office for a TADS packet.  The TADS application fee is $29.  For assistance in completing the TADS materials, call 612-238-3554.

Other opportunities to offset tuition expenses

Two groups, The Pioneer Foundation for the Performing Arts and St. Agned Group, organizations independent of Hill-Murray School, provide programs for volunteers seeking additional opportunities for tuition assistance.  This volunteer program for both Hill-Murray students and students enrolled at other schools, provides significant funds for families who wish to volunteer their time and talents.

For more information please contact the following to learn how your family can take advantage of these exceptional programs:
The Pioneer Foundation for the Performing Arts - Florie Peterson (PFFPA1987@aol.com)
The St. Agnes Group - bob_stagnes_nonprofit@yahoo.com

Tuition Payments
Monthly tuition is due on the 15th of the month. Tuition is billed over a 10 month period from August to May.  Late payments are assessed a 1.5% service fee on the outstanding balance.  If a student withdraws or is dismissed before the end of a semester, a charge for the full semester will be assessed.

Direct Payment Option
Instead of writing a check each month, families may now elect to have your tuition and other fees automatically deducted from your checking or savings account via an Automatic Clearing House (ACH) transaction.  To view a description and download the application form, click here.  Just complete the form and mail it to the H-M business office.  Families continue to receive monthly statements when they join the ACH program.
