Dear Current and Prospective Hill-Murray Family

The Hill-Murray School Business Office is available to help families with any questions concerning tuition assistance, scholarships, transportation, and tuition payment planning.  It is our goal to provide full service for families currently enrolled at Hill-Murray or for those who are considering Hill-Murray as the next educational step for their son or daughter.

Please read the description below about the range of tuition assistance options offered by Hill-Murray.  We encourage you to call or stop by the Business Office for assistance in helping plan for your student's education at Hill-Murray School.

Explore the Options

Sometimes families make an assumption, based on tuition alone, that their son or daughter cannot attend Hill-Murray School.  We encourage you to explore the options we make available.

We are very aware that education costs have risen historically, for both public and private schools.  We are sensitive to the fact that tuition requirements at Hill-Murray may mean sacrifices for families, and we want to work with you to provide as much assistance as possible.  Some families will be eligible for grants and scholarships.  Others with lesser need may want to take advantage of work programs or flexible payment plan options.

Please complete the financial assistance application (www.tuitionaid.com) and let us make a determination of how much assistance we can provide.  Let us know what your plans are for tuiton so we can create a workable plan for your family.

Facts about Tuition and Assistance

Tuition/Fees for 2010-2011
Tuition for 2010-2011 is $10,800 for grades 9-12 and $9,650 for grades 7-8.  In addition, there is a $300 Capital Improvement Fee for each student.  There are additional fees if you choose to contract for busing.  Students participating in athletics or other cocurricular activities are required to pay a participation fee.

Pre-payment option:  Families may choose to pre-pay the 2010-2011 tuition and receive a 5% discount.  Deadline is February 26, 2010 or within two weeks of acceptance.

Your tuition covers approximately 90% of the cost of an education at Hill-Murray.  The remainder is covered through fundraisers such as the Annual Fund and the Pioneer Premier Auction.  In this manner, every student is receiving some tuition assistance.

Tuition assistance
Over $800,000 is available to assist families, through Hill-Murray grants, Archdiocesan grants, and scholarships.  We offer scholarships ranging from $500 to one-half of a year’s tuition.  Some scholarships are based on need, some on merit.  For more information, read our Tuition Assistance/Scholarships Guide.

We accept tuition assistance applications through the Tuition Assistance Data Services (TADS) process.  Visit www.tads.com to apply. The TADS application fee is $29.  For assistance in completing the TADS materials, call 612-238-3554.

Other opportunities to offset tuition expenses
Two groups, The Pioneer Foundation for the Performing Arts and Donations for Education, non-profit organizations independent of Hill-Murray School, provide programs for volunteers seeking additional opportunities for tuition assistance.  This volunteer program for both Hill-Murray students and students enrolled at other schools, provides significant funds for families who wish to volunteer their time and talents.

For more information please contact the following to learn how your family can take advantage of these exceptional programs:

Tuition :  Billing & Payment Terms
In response to many family requests for more electronic payment options, Hill-Murray is pleased to announce that student billing will be processed through TADS for the 2010-11 school year.  The result: more convenience in making tuition payments and ease in accessing information about accounts.  The change also provides more flexibility with payment plans, including a 12-month option; on-line balance and payment information accessible 24-7 right from your computer; the option to have automatic payments processed with MasterCard, Discover and American Express credit cards; and payments may be automatically deducted from a personal checking account.

Fees
The fee for 10-12 month payment plans is $45 annually per family. Families opting to receive statements through the postal mail will be assessed a one-time charge of $10.00 per year; email statements require no fee. Payments received at TADS after the due date will incur a late fee of $29.00 per payment.  And, any payment returned from the bank will incur a $29.99 fee per return.
