Business Education
Business Course Descriptions
Computer Literacy: 9th Grade This course is designed to help students learn essential computer skills. After building keyboarding speed and accuracy, students will use Microsoft Word to create and format meaningful documents for college and beyond. They will also use Excel and PowerPoint to create powerful spreadsheets and effective presentations. Upon completion of this course, students will have their completed work to create a reference manual for future use.
Computer Applications: Grades 10-12 This course provides an opportunity for students to learn how to create a web page (FrontPage), work extensively with spreadsheets (Excel) and create databases (Access). Students will use the Internet, e-mail, a scanner, a digital camera, and a CD burner. PowerPoint and Microsoft Word will be used to create multi-media projects and presentations.
Consumer Education: Grades 11-12 This is a personal finance class designed to give students the skills they need to manage their money and credit, and to make wise consumer decisions. This class will help any student by teaching them practical personal finance concepts and skills.
Sales and Marketing: Grades 11-12 This course will help students better understand marketing and discover how to apply what they learn in both personal and business settings. Students will learn about topics such as: interviewing for a job, marketing ethics, market research, consumer behavior, and much more. Activities in this class will include realistic, hands-on assignments and projects and will feature guest speakers, giving students a chance to talk to business professionals in marketing.
