All Guests Welcomed as Christ . . .
words printed on a sign in front of the school, and a lot more.  They’re an invitation founded in the Benedictine tradition to all who come to Hill-Murray . . . visitors, students, parents, alumni, and staff! Our commitment is to celebrate each person, to help all students find and develop their individual gifts . . . and to help them excel!

A Place to Learn

Being a Hill-Murray student means using your talents to the best of your ability. It means high expectations.  And, yes, it means hard work.  There’s plenty of help available. Class sizes are small and teachers take the time to give you the individual help you need.  There is a math lab, a peer tutoring program, and a Learning Coordinator to help you with study skills or special tutoring needs. At Hill-Murray you’ll find technology resources everywhere . . . in fact in every classroom!  Each classroom is outfitted with a learning center complete with computer, VCR, DVD, and Internet access.  A portable classroom set of laptops is also widely used by students. Two 30 PC computer labs for both individual and class use, are updated with new computers every third year. These labs are great research and learning resources that also offer internet access.  A media center (also with computers and internet access), career resource center, and tutoring resource center are also available to meet your learning needs.

Choose from a wide range of course options, including honors level courses in English, math, religion, science, social studies, and world languages.  Advanced Placement is offered in calculus, English, and American History. You can also earn college credits in calculus and theology.  Along with a great foundation of courses in the basics, you’ll find a broad selection of electives--from writing, theatre, music, and world languages--to practical arts, and many others.  A unique Artist-in-Residence program also awaits you in the studio arts program, staffed by a working artist whose works are on display around the U.S. Many students new to Hill-Murray find that they study more than in the past. And when they leave, they find that they’re well prepared for college or career opportunities.

A Place to Grow

Hill-Murray is a Catholic school that welcomes students of all faiths. Christian values form the foundation for everything you learn and do at the school. You will have opportunities to learn more about your faith, serve others, and grow spiritually. Masses, prayer services, retreats, and fellowship are offered through Campus Ministry. Service opportunities are frequent through National Honor Society, Student Council, Peer Helping, and Peer Ministry.

As part of its commitment to educate the whole person, Hill-Murray provides a full range of cocurricular activities, emphasizing athletics, performing arts, and service. Every student is encouraged to explore his/her gifts, to find a niche , and to excel. From newspaper, student government, twenty-three varsity sports for boys and girls, to award-winning theatre--opportunities await you.

Because the school has fewer students than many other schools, you have more opportunities to become involved! Over 90% of H-M students are involved in at least one cocurricular activity. Whatever activities you choose, you’ll learn more about yourself, and you’ll discover new interests to pursue over your lifetime.

A Place to Belong

What makes a school special? Why do alumni, parents, students, and staff speak so warmly about Hill-Murray?
Perhaps it’s the word, “community.” Hill-Murray is a place where you will feel welcomed, a place where you are appreciated for the kind of person you are. Teachers and counselors take the time to get to know you, and you’ll get to know them. It’s a place where you’ll develop lifelong friends through the activities in which you participate; in small classes where you get to know everyone; at pepfests, service activities, dances; and in the halls between classes.
